Biography
Born in
Washington DC, and raised in
Southern Florida, this artist
received her Association of Arts degree from Broward County College in 1970.
In 1973 she then immigrated to Canada where she began work as an independent body work therapist. Knoebber uses this work as a resource for the development of her artwork, creating a form language that communicates both release and receptivity.
In 1982 she began what continues to be a fruitful association with the Pilchuck School of Glass in Washington, studying with artists like Ray King, Narcissus Qualiata and Susan Stinsmuller-Amend. Knoebber has explored realms of glass work that include Environmental Structural Glass Design, Personal Statements in Glass, Mixed Media and The Glass as Art.
In 1984 Knoebber was invited to participate in the annual Glass Art Conference held in Corning, New York.
Over the next three years she completed 10 commissioned pieces of stained, leaded and laminated glass in her designs. Her approach was to work with her clients kinesthetically to develop an understanding of what form, lines and colours would communicate most effectively with them in their environments, then to combine this with her artistic direction and technical experience.
